My name is Mónico Heredia and I was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico. I am the 6th child in my family of 7 (4 girls & 3 boys) with 20 nieces and nephews. My beloved mother passed away in the fall of 2022. From the age of 11, I fell in love with the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist as an altar server. So here I am answering our Heavenly Father’s call.

I attended high school seminary in Mexico and began my US studies in 2015 at the University of Reno Nevada and I was a Seminarian for the Diocese of Reno, NV.While visiting Twin Falls in 2016 with a fellow seminarian from Mt Angel, I fell in love with the area.I saw a great need for Latino priests. My discernment to transfer to the Boise Diocese began. After I finished my philosophy degree at Mt. Angel, I made the decision to transfer to the Boise Diocese.

I enjoy basketball and was on the basketball team at both seminaries in Mexico andMt Angel. I also like hiking and any outdoor activities. Also, I’m learning to swim. I was assigned to the Coeur d’Alene area in July of 2023 and want to thank everyone who helped me feel welcome while I was there.

In May of 2024, I finished my Theology III classes at St. Paul Seminary in MN and I am stationed in Boise for the summer of 2024. I will return to St. Paul for my Theology IV classes this fall. I am on track for my Transitional Diaconate. Please pray for vocations and all families from our Boise Diocese.
